Winter Magic in the Greenhouse at Currans Flowers

There’s something extra cozy about stepping into the greenhouse at Currans Flowers in Danvers, especially as the temperatures drop and the holidays roll in. While everything outside is turning gray and quiet, inside our greenhouse it’s the total opposite: color, texture, and life everywhere you look. Think of it as your local little winter escape… just with a lot more poinsettias.

A Greenhouse Full of Holiday Color

Right now, the greenhouse is loaded with all the classics you know and love for the season. Our benches are overflowing with festive favorites like:Red poinsettia plants in greenhouse

  • Poinsettias in red, white, pink, and burgundy
  • Bold, elegant amaryllis
  • Christmas cactus in full, joyful bloom
  • Our Currans-grown cyclamen, a true in-house specialty

And because we can’t resist adding a few fun twists, you’ll also find specialty crops like frosty ferns, rosemary trees, lavender trees, and lemon cypress. With so many shapes, colors, and textures, this might honestly be one of the most colorful times of year in the greenhouse.

For decorating your home, thanking a host, or surprising someone with fresh blooms, there’s a plant here that fits the moment perfectly.

Foliage Fans, This One’s for You

Plants and wreaths in greenhouse

In the past, holiday plants sometimes took center stage and everyday foliage had to scoot over a bit. But with our expanded retail space, we’re officially treating green plants like the year-round stars they are.

We’re keeping our foliage selection going strong all winter, so you can still find your favorite leafy friends while you’re picking out holiday plants. We’ve also added indoor hanging succulents and foliage hangers into the mix, perfect for brightening up a kitchen window, home office, or that one blank wall you’ve been meaning to decorate.

If you’re craving a winter home refresh that doesn’t involve a full remodel, a few new plants can do wonders.

Dress Up Your Doorstep (and Beyond)

The winter fun doesn’t stop inside the greenhouse. Step outside, and you’ll find everything you need to decorate your home for the season, whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or more of a “you do it, I’ll admire it” type.Exterior of home with festive planters

We offer:

  • Custom decorated wreaths in a variety of styles
  • Fresh garlands to drape around doorways, railings, and lampposts
  • Outdoor winter planters filled with greens, branches, red berries, and pinecones

If you love getting a little crafty, we’ve got you covered there, too. You can build your own outdoor planters or arrangements with our assortment of fresh-cut winter greens, including balsam, assorted cedars, juniper, noble fir, and white pine. We also carry pinecones, red berries, and branches so you can layer in all those pretty details.

And for those hanging basket hooks that look lonely in winter? Enter our handmade and decorated boxwood or balsam kissing balls. They’re a charming way to keep that space festive once your summer plants have said goodbye.

The Story Behind Our Beloved Boxwood Trees

Dog in front of Christmas decorIf you’ve shopped with us before, you probably know: boxwood trees are a big deal around the holidays at Currans Flowers.

We create three different sizes of boxwood trees and offer several color palettes, so you can match your decor, whether you lean classic red-and-gold or prefer frosty silvers and cool tones. One of the best parts? These beauties are long-lasting. They’ll carry you right into the new year with ease.

Here’s something many people don’t realize: boxwood trees aren’t potted, living trees. They’re carefully crafted from fresh-cut boxwood tips that we design into tree-shaped arrangements, then decorate with bows, baubles, and festive accents.

And the boxwood we use has a story of its own. It’s harvested from historic estates in Virginia, including properties tied to James Madison’s Montpelier residence. So when you bring one of our boxwood trees home, you’re bringing in a little piece of American history.

Honoring Loved Ones with Winter Florals

We know the holidays can be bittersweet, especially when you’re missing someone special. To help you honor loved ones, we create a variety of cemetery pieces with the same care and attention we put into everything else:

  • Cemetery baskets
  • Cemetery blankets
  • Planters
  • Stone toppers

We also carry over-the-stone hangers if you prefer to display a wreath at the cemetery. It’s a meaningful way to keep traditions alive and let your memories bloom, even in the colder months.
