“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” -Amelia Earhart
Each year, people around the world recognize a single day to focus deliberate acts of kindness on the greater community. With gestures ranging from the elaborately planned to the simple and opportunistic, there are ways for everyone to participate. February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day – and you are officially invited to the party! At Curran’s Flowers, we enjoy this watching beautiful acts of kindness all year round, but we especially love helping you to scheme and plan ways to make people smile, or no other reason other than “just because!”. Get in on the fun this year and watch the amazing results, as your one act of generosity grows roots around you and causes happiness to grow.
Acts of kindness can be as intuitive as holding a door open with a big smile, or bringing breakfast to a colleague at work. We love the idea of buying a bouquet of loose flowers and just handing them out to random strangers on your way to work; or perhaps the recipients are people you see every day who deserve some recognition. If you love working with kids, call a local school and ask if they are in need of supplies, or if they have a program to help low-income families with food and basic needs. Ask you child’s teacher if you can help in the classroom for the day, and consider baking a batch of cookies or other treats for the teacher’s lounge, just to say thank you. Not only will the teachers and staff be blessed by your generous donations and time, students will recognize that someone has gone out of their way to help them in a very real way. Think of the impact that kind of example can set for our next generation!
Curran’s Flowers is here to help you spread kindness and generosity, wherever your day takes you from Danvers to Boston. And while Random Acts of Kindness Day may fall on February 17th, its effects may inspire you to find ways to make people smil
