Shamrocks & Green Plants for St. Patrick’s Day

In the 1800's, Irish immigrants poured into the Boston area looking to escape the terrible famine in their own country. However, St. Patrick's Day had been celebrated by earlier arrivals as far back as the 1730's. To this day, the greater metropolitan area still boasts one of the highest concentrations of people claiming Irish heritage, meaning that this part of the country is really anticipating March 17th and all of its festivities. For years, Curran's Flowers has been providing Danvers with shamrocks, the most iconic plant associated with the holiday, and we invite you to come into our shop and get some for your home or office. What a fun and festive way to celebrate the day! Did You Know? Many people associate the four-leaf clover with St. Patrick's Day, especially since it seems to correlate with "the luck o' the Irish!" However, it is the three-leafed variety of the clover that St. Patrick used to teach children about the doctrine of the Trinity. Read More about Shamrocks & Green Plants for St. Patrick’s Day »

Floral Design Day – Meet Carole

Floral Design Day was established in 1995 as a way to honor the skill and artistic accomplishments of florists around the country. The idea was inspired by Carl Rittner, who founded the School of Floral Design in Boston, and who is considered to be one of the most prominent visionaries in our industry. Here at Curran's Flowers, we appreciate the legacy that Rittner and others have left and celebrate the talented professionals who continue to bring beauty to the world through their designs. In that spirit, we'd like to introduce you to one of our own design stars. Meet Carole. Read More about Floral Design Day – Meet Carole »
