Honor Them Through Flowers

There is no official flower for Veterans Day, and we here at Currans Flowers are wondering, What gives?

We have a half dozen florals reserved for more somber occasions – white lilies, chrysanthemums, red poppies worn on the lapel – but no designated flowers for special days like these. While that leaves room for us to be creative in what we send to our beloved patriots, customizing an arrangement to his or her particular taste, it can also leave us wishing there was a distinct tribute that made the occasion very clear. We think its the perfect time to both be creative and pay tribute.

It’s entirely possible to communicate your gratitude for a vet’s service with something that’s both unique but also reminiscent of the flag. In our Joyeux bouquet, a seasonally-appropriate mix of flowers is brought together in a contemporary style. And yet the rich blue hydrangea blooming from the bottom of the piece, as well as the spiky red pincushion flowers that look like fireworks, hew to the occasion at hand.

We think a plant gift can also make a wonderful Veterans Day gift, and wish we could nominate the bromeliad as the day’s official bloom. With its bold red petals ever opening toward the sky, it’s a flower of real strength and optimism. Tucked in next to white orchids in a garden bed, this is also a piece that will last beyond November 11, exactly like your gratitude.

We at Currans Flowers join you in honoring those who have served to protect and defend our country, and we’d like to help you find the perfect way to honor them through flowers.
