The season for homecoming weekend celebrations is nearly here. Whether you are an alumni returning to your old stomping grounds, or a student looking forward to the homecoming dance, Curran’s Flowers has the formal flowers you’ll need for every event.
There are many reasons flowers are in demand over this special weekend. The mothers of football players generally receive corsages, and the homecoming court can look forward to special bouquets. Alumni often wear flowers which celebrate team colors and spirit, and of course – the homecoming dance will also require corsages and boutonnieres. And although the terms may conjure up images of an old-fashioned tradition, our floral designers have created trendy, artistic, and unique pieces which will add fashion and flair.
Corsages have been a traditional gift for dances since the mid 1800’s. But today’s designs showcase exotic flowers and contemporary arrangements, most notably the popular wristlet. A combination of a bracelet and decorative flowers, the wristlet can be designed utilizing a ribbon, or a band of faux pearls, rhinestones, or beads. Nosegays, floral crowns, and even floral leis are also a part of many traditions.
Popular flowers for corsages include roses, calla lilies, carnations, orchids, and mums. But if you are looking for something unique and different, call our designers. We are happy to work with you to determine the perfect style and color for your dress, as well discuss the freshest in-season flowers.
Did You Know? One of the most prolific traditions on many campuses is the bonfire, which got its start at Baylor University in the early 1900’s. Because the school was often the target of overnight raids from their rival Texas Christian, freshmen were charged with tending fires overnight to illuminate the campus.
You can trust the expertise of the team at Curran’s Flowers to create the floral designs for your homecoming dance – and for all homecoming events. This is a time to make memories, and we can help!
