Floral Design Day – Meet Carole

floral designFloral Design Day was established in 1995 as a way to honor the skill and artistic accomplishments of florists around the country. The idea was inspired by Carl Rittner, who founded the School of Floral Design in Boston, and who is considered to be one of the most prominent visionaries in our industry. Here at Curran’s Flowers, we appreciate the legacy that Rittner and others have left and celebrate the talented professionals who continue to bring beauty to the world through their designs. In that spirit, we’d like to introduce you to one of our own design stars. Meet Carole.

floral designCarole began her floral design career on Long Island when she was only 17 years old. She worked at a local florist on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays after church during high school. When it came time to graduate, Carole had to make a choice – work full time, head to college, or choose another career. Luckily for all of those who have enjoyed the beauty of her designs over the years, Carole decided to attend agricultural school for Floral Design. She has been with Curran’s Flowers for 18 years, and we couldn’t imagine the shop without her.

Throughout her career, Carole has worked in many shops but says that Currans’s Flowers is by far her favorite. “I love the location, which gives me proximity to family. But I also love that this is such a great environment and comfortable setting. I really enjoy the people, and we have lots of fun. Most importantly, I feel respected as a person, not just another employee – which makes a big difference.”
floral designThat atmosphere that gives her the freedom to exercise creativity has resulted in gorgeous floral designs too numerous to count, as well as other unique offerings. Although she loves all flowers, lilies are her favorite; and she also likes making custom vases. She also specializes in designing gourmet and gift baskets, so if you have ever sent or received one of these amazing gifts, it is likely that Carole had a hand in it.
floral designCurran’s Flowers appreciates Carole and all of the people who make our shop such a great place to work. On Floral Design Day, stop by and say hello. Then consider giving someone you love a bouquet or arrangement, made with love by Carole – who has been making Danvers more beautiful for years.
