Pets play an important role in our lives - but as much as many of us cherish our fur babies, not all animals experience the same level of love and acceptance.
National Puppy Day was established on March 23, 2007, and is a grassroots effort to raise awareness about the issues surrounding shelters and the animals who live in them. Over-population, indiscriminate breeding, and overcrowding result in far too many animals being euthanized due to lack of space. Thousands of volunteers and professionals across the country are committed to finding homes for rescue dogs and puppies, but the odds are stacked against them.
