It’s late August & hardy mums have made their way to the front of the store.

The chrysanthemum was first introduced into the Western world during the 17th Century. In 1753 Karl Linnaeus, renowned Swedish botanist, combined the Greek words chrysos, meaning gold with anthemon, meaning flower. Pretty cool. (thank you National Chrysanthemum Society)

Chinese folk medicine calls for a tea made of chrysanthemum petals & leaves to treat a variety of ailments. Please consult your local folk doctor or medicine man for more info.

Above is a unique planter combo of kale & millet. Neat!

This kale is robust! Nice garnish for a serving tray and a renewable resource. I can see it now: crushed ice, bed of kale, cocktail sauce & shrimp…mmmmmm.

Beautiful Coral Bells, Fountain grass, & 4″ Hardy mums growing in our courtyard. Pretty fall color.
We’ve got some great options for late summer & fall blooming plants out front, in the greenhouses, and in the courtyard. Stop by & check them out.
